Circular Consumption and Fashion that Speaks: The Vault’s Fall 2025 Flea Market

Written by Avery Charlesworth

On Sunday, October 14th, The Vault hosted yet another successful flea market. Now it's a beloved tradition that celebrates creativity, community, and sustainable fashion. In our world defined by mass production and overconsumption, The Vault continues to stand apart, championing individuality and mindful style.

Back for the third time and bigger than ever, this season's Flea Market was held in collaboration with the Oliv Madison, a local housing apartment near campus. The partnership brought together a perfect blend of inspiration, accessibility, and neighborhood buzz.

Kim Harvey, the events lead role for the Vault explained her part in making the flea market come to be, “I took on leading and coordinating the flea market when the idea was brought up my freshman year along with Ilana Goldklang. I love seeing the event come to life after months of the behind the scenes work, and seeing how happy all of the sellers are!” said Kim.

The vendors, mostly spirited college students, curated displays of pre-loved pieces, placing what was once their fresh finds into a space for a new home and identity. Some sellers were associated with The Vault, while others simply shared a passion for fashion and circular consumption. When looking around, one's eyes were on a visual journey of colorful expression. Each section reflects a different identity and aesthetic. From one-of-a-kind bomber jackets to stands gleaming with sequined purses and dresses, every corner told its own story, and each seller had unique twists on their style ready to share it with everyone.

As autumn settles in, fall-inspired pieces are in full force. Think soft sweaters, multitudes of scarves, and cozy pastels reminiscent of LoveShackFancy’s charm. Tables overflowed with denim, cargo, pants, and patterned pants, ready to help students transition their wardrobes for the seasons ahead. Staying warm and in style is a UW-Madison student's specialty.
