Red Carpet Radiance: The Fashion That Defined the 2026 Grammys

Written by Bailey Young

Music’s biggest night – and fashion’s highly anticipated red carpet was the 2026 Grammys. With nominees like Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny, and Olivia Dean, fashion critics around the world were both pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised by the styling choices made by this year’s top artists. This year we saw a few major themes capture the red carpet. Texture choices such as sheer fabric and feathered detailing, bold statements like sequins, metallics, and cutouts, and even matching – ‘Mary Kate and Ashley’ style. Stars let their personalities radiate through their choices, hoping to embody their music and steal the spotlight on that coveted Grammy stage.

As pictured above, icons like Lady Gaga, Karol G, and Tyla, were prime contributors to the daring silhouettes pictured throughout the night. Tyla’s bedazzled neckline that waterfalls down her bodice of rosey-gold delicate fabric followed by a playful train of feathers was certainly showstopper. Some people may view this mixed material gown to be overwhelming, but I personally think it complements Tyla’s lively personality extraordinarily. Moving on to Lady Gaga, critics would expect nothing less. Gaga’s fashion choices feel sometimes costumeish, immediately drawing attention to her for her authenticity. Her fully feathered gown is extravagant and original,  perfectly reflecting her personal artistry. Karol G’s gown is a combination of scandalous and femininity. The almost naked look the dress mimics is just risque enough to turn heads. More artists are playing into this “naked” look to fully embrace their bodies. In light of body positivity and encouragement to live authentically, the choices regarding texture at this year’s Grammys speak volumes to the change in America's fashion today.

In case you haven’t heard, matching is in again. Katseye pulled off a six person ensemble with matching color stories and fabrics. Hailey and Justin Bieber’s looks featured both a matching gown and tuxedo, a silver neckpiece, and a custom pin. Both of these groups elevated simple colors, like white and black, into something elegant. Because of their correspondence to each other, their outfits make sense. When they stand apart the vision may be lost. But together, their looks stand out among the rest.

Stella Quaresma, Renée Downer and Jorja Douglas – aka FLO, and the Haim sisters proved that there isn’t always a duo in every trio. Their looks all use the same fabric and accent detailing, but the way in which they wear these fabrics and other materials is entirely different. This is where ‘Mary Kate and Ashley’ matching takes over. These women aren’t wearing the exact same thing, but the point is that anyone can tell that they belong together. Positioned next to each other, their looks tell a story of unity.

In terms of sequins, metallics, and daring cutouts, artists delivered this year. Artists like Sombr, Olivia Dean, Tenaya Taylor, Jon Batiste, Sabrina Carpenter, and Zara Larson leaned heavily into the glitz, glamor, and sequins that reinforced the Grammys as the most theatrical in regards to award shows. The shine in these looks was intentional. Sequins serving as the main fabric in many statement pieces suggests a disco-like revival in pop culture. These stand out looks brought playfulness back to award shows. Rather than attempting to have the most expensive piece, artists are now focusing on personal style rather than the public perception.

The 2026 Grammys constitute a year of freedom in fashion. With choices that distinguish themselves amongst the rest, artists are finding authenticity in their award show attire. Celebrating differences and welcoming uniqueness, the fashion at the 2026 Grammys is surely one to beat.
