Nike X Jacquemus Après Ski

Written by Shriya Samanta

The Nike x Jacquemus Après Ski Collection arrives with a focused 18-piece lineup built for winter performance and the aesthetic of mountain life. At the center are the triple-layer GORE-TEX jackets and pants, made with a breathable, water-repellent fabric laminate designed to handle harsh weather while still looking refined.

This release draws directly from Simon Porte Jacquemus’ long-standing love of skiing. He has collected vintage ski pieces from the 1980s since he was young, and that influence shapes the look and feel of the collection. Nike provides the technical backbone, while Jacquemus sets the visual tone through sharp lines, structured silhouettes, and a sleek approach to alpine wear along with his personal connection to the sport.

The partnership works so well because it blends Nike’s performance engineering with Jacquemus’ minimalist, asymmetrical, surrealist, and effortless style. Each brand stays true to what it does best, yet the combination creates something that feels new within winter apparel.

On a strategic level, the collection reflects how both brands want to grow. Nike is using design partnerships to strengthen its position within winter fashion, reaching audiences who look for style as much as performance. Jacquemus benefits from access to technical materials and construction methods that expand his creative capabilities. This allows them to  enter the realm of technical outerwear, a space that fashion is paying more attention to.

The appeal of this release ties into a broader shift in what people expect from winter wear today. Before buying, people form ideas based on what brands have promised and delivered in the past about how these pieces should look, feel, and hold up in different conditions. When the product meets or surpasses those expectations, it creates a stronger sense of satisfaction and makes the purchase feel worthwhile. Nike and Jacquemus meet these expectations by making pieces that work in cold weather without losing a sense of style. Clothing that can meet practical needs while also fitting personal taste tends to make a lasting impression, which helps build trust and encourages people to return to the brands over time.

This direction is part of a larger move toward sport-centered style, where performance design becomes part of daily wardrobes rather than something reserved for specific activities. By combining technical fabrics with wearable silhouettes, the collection creates pieces that feel adaptable rather than limited to specific environments. You can see this shift across the market: even classic sport items like Adidas Sambas, which began as indoor soccer shoes, have become everyday fashion staples, showing how athletic design is moving far beyond its original context.

As more consumers look for comfort, durability, and protection from cold and wind without sacrificing a sense of style, visually appealing cold-weather and outdoor wear are increasingly becoming an everyday winter category. The Après Ski Collection shows how Nike’s expertise and Jacquemus’ design sensibility can create pieces that function in harsh weather yet still fit seamlessly into everyday wardrobes, placing both brands at the front of this growing shift.
