Building a Spring Break Capsule Wardrobe

Written by Ava Palmieri

Spring break is finally upon us, which means it is time to start officially planning outfits. It can be tempting to splurge on an entire new wardrobe, but the secret to effortless style is investing in a few versatile pieces and using items that are probably already in your closet. By curating a capsule wardrobe, you can effortlessly create outfits that work for every moment of your trip.

Matching sets may not be revolutionary, but they’re one of the smartest choices for any trip where packing light is key. From going-out looks to lounge sets and beach cover-ups, they look effortlessly put together. A great strategy is to choose a few sets in coordinating colors or styles so you can mix and match each piece. Suddenly, three outfits turn into nine without adding extra weight to your suitcase. Brands like Edikted, Brandy, Princess Polly and Pacsun are especially great for finding affordable matching sets for the beach and a night out.

Shoes can also quickly take up space in your suitcase, so packing them strategically is key. A well-rounded list includes a comfortable pair of sneakers (wear these on the plane to save space), simple flip flops for beach days, strappy nude or white heels, and a sleek pair of black boots for nights out.

When it comes to sneakers, I love my New Balance 530s- they’re incredibly comfortable but still feel stylish enough to wear with different types of outfits. For flip flops, Rainbows are my favorite because they are both durable and comfortable. With just these four pairs, you’ll be set for everything: nice dinners, beach time, and nights out.

By being intentional when packing for spring break, you can avoid easy mistakes like overpacking. Versatile matching sets and thoughtful shoe choices help make deciding on an outfit easy and chic. With more room in your suitcase and less time stressing over your outfit, your spring break will be more enjoyable than ever.
