Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2025: The Runaway Revival
Written by Giselle Franco
For years, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was renowned as the “Super Bowl” of the fashion world. People from all around the world gathered to watch supermodels strut the stage in barely-clad lingerie, promoting Victoria’s Secret clothing and garments. However, in 2019, after complaints about a lack of body type diversity, funding issues, and viewership struggles, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show came to a halt. The fashion spectacle was no longer an annual triumph.
In October of 2024, after long conversations and debates on whether the show should make a comeback, it returned. While viewership was high, many fans complained that the show was not the same as it once was. From the beginning of the annual show in 1995, the show focused on bombshell blowouts, unique themes, and full-glam makeup. The revamped 2024 show consisted of models with slick-back hair, conservative outfits, and lighter makeup. Many viewers felt these changes made the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show not as good as it once was. Fans felt disappointed at the new branding and thematics of the comeback.
After seeing complaints on social media and in entertainment news, Victoria’s Secret decided to continue the show in 2025, but re-vamped their branding so that it was more reminiscent of old shows, while still remaining inclusive. Famous models like Bella and Gigi Hadid, Anok Yai, Candice Swaenpoel, Adriana Lima, and many more flaunted the stage, and fans were pleased to see that they had returned with the traditional Victoria’s Secret look. The show also featured models of various heights and body types, highlighting VS’s return to the traditional Victoria’s Secret branding, but also their commitment to remaining more inclusive. The budget for the 2025 show had also been raised, so the stage featured flashier lights, more creative themes, and an overall increase in the quality of the show.
While the importance of the Victoria’s Secret Show is still widely debated, as well as the ways in which the showrunners organize the show and the models, an increase in viewership and positive public reception proves the 2025 show was a success. With the triumph of this year’s show, it can be assumed that future shows will continue to flourish, as long as the organizers continue to combine iconic traditions with inclusivity and passion.
