Fall Photoshoot Recap
Written by Jordyn Salahiddine-Rose
Last month The Vault’s Journalism Committee had its first photoshoot of the school year. It was one of the first beautiful fall days in Madison and although it was a bit chilly, the bright autumn colors were really showing through in the photos we took. The theme for this shoot was classic Rom-Com paired with an element of journalism. For example, movies like How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, 13 Going On 30 and The Devil Wears Prada. All of these movies had a female protagonist work for publications and showcased this chic and classy style. We channeled this aesthetic in our photoshoot and I think we embodied Andy Anderson and Jenna Rink quite nicely.
Romantic Comedies have always been my favorite genre of movies which is how I came up with this theme for the shoot. With photographer Melissa Liu, we were able to create fun and unique shots inside and outside Vilas Hall, UW-Madison’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, as well as outside Library Mall. We chose seven models from our committee and each one did such an amazing job. The models were asked to style themselves based on the theme and have their own makeup and hair done so that we could jump right into the shoot.
It was such an amazing experience and I am so grateful for all the hard work that was put into this shoot. Everyone had such good ideas and it never would’ve happened without each person contributing to the project. Who knew journalists could serve this hard (I did).
