Badger Game Day: Fall-Inspired Fits to Stay Warm + Stylish (while

Written by Helen Boehm-Bristow

Game days at UW are the perfect excuse to throw together a creative, eye-catching outfit for both pictures and showing off. Tailgates, pre-games, post-parties, and the game itself all require a versatile fit to go along with the activities. Considering the sheer number of people that attend the games, having an outfit you feel confident (and comfortable) in will make a huge difference. There are only 6 home games this semester, so make your outfits count!

Curating a game-day fit could go many directions. As we all know, the core colors for UW-Madison are red and white. Using an article of clothing that is one of the two colors as your basis for the outfit is a great way to start. From there on, you can add whatever accessories you’d like to further develop the fit. Layering your outfits with different pops of color and neutrals is a great way to stay warm and fashionable.

Finding fun statement jackets that incorporate red and white can elevate a simple outfit of a shirt and jeans. Even if they don’t necessarily scream game-day, those types of items are a wonderful investment and can be used in various ways at UW. Any red or white clothing piece can be used for game day if paired correctly with the rest of the outfit.

Another way to approach game-day fits is by using nice, basic items to get a more clean look. If you don’t want to get crazy with the accessories, pairing something like a simple red sweater, white undershirt, and your favorite pair of blue jeans can give a more elevated look to the outfit.

Although red and white are our school’s colors, don’t let this limit you. They don’t have to automatically be the star of the show. Using one of these colors in an accent piece to your outfit allows for more flexibility and will still have your group pictures looking cohesive and game-day themed. Recently, I’ve found whimsical belts to be great additions to outfits. Scarves are convenient and cute accessories that work with the weather.

Make the most of the remaining warm-weather days and create some fun fall game-day fits!
